Why Oakdon Stands Out

Oakdon is a Panivox product built on RichCast, the interactive platform created by Andrew and Philip Oliver — among the best-known games developers in the UK. With more than four decades of experience in interactive storytelling and game design, they developed over 50 titles from 1983 to 1993, including Dizzy, which became one of the most recognised game characters of the 1980s.

That matters because Oakdon is not simply a digital trail with a payment model. It is shaped by the same principles that make games genuinely engaging: curiosity, progression, reward, character and a reason to keep going. For venues, that means an experience designed to feel worthwhile for visitors and commercially credible for the teams promoting it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do visitors need to download an app?

No. The experience is entirely browser-based, launched via QR code or printed materials. Visitors tap or scan and play — no download required.

What does the venue need to provide?

Space to display POS materials and willing staff to promote the experience. Panivox handles all technology, content and ongoing support.

How quickly can we launch?

Most venues can go live within a few days of signing up, once POS materials are ready and the experience is set up.

Can we add different titles across the year?

Yes. Oakdon is an annual programme. Venues can run seasonal titles at Halloween, Christmas, Easter and summer, with Koby available as an always-on option.

How is venue income calculated?

Visitors pay £5 per download. Commercial terms are agreed directly with each venue. The illustrative examples on this page show possible returns, but final figures depend on VAT, delivery costs, sales mix and agreed terms.

What are through-till cards?

Physical cards that venues can purchase and sell directly on site. Venues keep the revenue from those card sales after the cost of the stock

Can replay terms be customised?

Access and replay terms can be tailored to your venue programme. Repeat-play options can be discussed as part of setup.

What support does Panivox provide?

Panivox handles build, launch support, content updates and ongoing technical support throughout the programme.

Does Oakdon work as well on a museum or heritage site as a family attraction?

Yes. Oakdon works equally well for museums, heritage properties and family venues. The trail format is flexible enough to suit indoor, outdoor and mixed environments.
